KeyMetriq vs ActiveCampaign

The automation heavyweight, or one place your numbers add up

ActiveCampaign runs marketing automation deeper than almost anyone. KeyMetriq runs your whole business from one screen and measures revenue from your real sales data, refunds included. Here is the honest version of how they compare.

The short version

Choose ActiveCampaign if sophisticated automation is the center of your business: its visual builder and 950+ recipes are the category benchmark, and KeyMetriq's own builder is still on the roadmap. Choose KeyMetriq if your real problem is that every tool reports a different number. It measures revenue from your actual sales data, reconciles it against your bank, and takes over the jobs you pay other tools for: team tasks, a support inbox, and on Scale your member community. KeyMetriq also connects to ActiveCampaign, so you can put it on top first and move your sending over when it makes sense.

Feature by feature

Email marketing
Email campaigns Native sending is KeyMetriq's own: broadcasts on every tier, 25,000 to 600,000 sends per month by tier. Campaign studio on Growth. Broadcasts with a drag-and-drop designer and 250+ templates on every plan. Monthly send caps apply (10x to 15x your contact limit) with a $0.005 per email overage fee.
Signup forms Native forms with actions on submit: tag, add to a list, register to a webinar, notify your team, create a task, send an auto-reply. The KeyMetriq waitlist runs on one. Form builder on all plans; Starter gets inline forms only, pop-ups and floating boxes need Plus.
Landing page builder No landing page builder. KeyMetriq assumes you already have a website and instruments it instead. Unlimited landing pages on Plus and above; none on Starter.
Automation
Visual automation builder Not yet - on the roadmap. Form actions handle the common cases today: tag, notify, create a task, auto-reply. The category benchmark: visual drag-and-drop builder with 950+ prebuilt recipes on every plan. Starter caps each automation at 5 actions.
Automated email sequences Not yet - on the roadmap alongside the automation builder. Drips, welcome series, and date-based sends on all plans.
Analytics & reporting
Revenue reporting Measured from your real sales data, refunds included. Dashboards display; KeyMetriq reconciles. Attribution, not measurement: an email gets credit when a recipient opens or clicks, then buys in a connected store within 7 days. Refunded and canceled orders are excluded. Not on Starter.
Campaign attribution Per-contact campaign attribution across platforms, tied to real orders (Growth). UTM-based attribution with manually assigned conversion values; included only on Pro and Enterprise.
A/B testing Page-variant experiments with clear verdicts: keep running, not enough data yet, or promote the challenger, automatically if you choose. Email subject-line splits: not yet. Campaign split tests with up to five variations on every plan; split testing inside automations needs Pro.
On-site behavior tracking Website widget, attention maps on your real pages, and video watch tracking on YouTube, Vimeo, and Wistia (Growth). Site tracking records page visits by identified contacts. No native heatmaps, attention maps, or video watch tracking.
Bank reconciliation and receipts Bank statement reconciliation, AI receipt matching, and an accountant pack (Growth). The number you see matches the money that arrived. No bank reconciliation, receipt matching, or accounting features.
AI assistant AI weekly digest on every tier. Chat with your numbers and anomaly alerts on Growth. Active Intelligence: a conversational AI workspace with campaign, automation, and segment agents. Unlimited on Pro and Enterprise, limited on Starter and Plus.
CRM & data
Contact profiles One deduplicated profile per person: identity resolution across platforms, full timeline, segments, tags. Unified profiles with custom fields, tags, and history. Leftover duplicates are merged manually, two at a time.
Sales CRM and deal pipelines No deal pipelines. Contacts, timelines, and a shared task suite instead. Deal pipelines and lead scoring exist but as paid add-ons (Pipelines, Sales Engagement) on Plus and above, not in any base plan.
Operations
Team tasks Kanban boards, My Week, mentions, watchers, recurring tasks. To-do items attached to contacts and deals inside the CRM. No standalone team task boards.
Member portal and cohorts Member portal on Scale: community, programs, cohorts, who has paid, and who watched this week's lesson. No community, member portal, courses, or cohort hosting.
Support inbox Shared inbox where email and texts thread into one conversation per customer. The Conversations shared inbox was withdrawn from new sale in January 2023; shared inboxes now exist only inside the paid WhatsApp and SMS add-ons.
SMS marketing No SMS broadcasts. Two-way support texting works today, with consent enforced and STOP and START honored. Paid credit-based add-on requiring Plus or higher; unused credits do not roll over. Broadcasts in the US, UK, and Australia.
Integrations A curated set: Stripe, PayPal, WooCommerce, ThriveCart, SamCart, Gumroad, Kajabi, Zoom, Gmail, Slack and more. Unlimited connections on Growth. A curated catalog, not a thousand-app marketplace. 1,000+ app catalog with API, webhooks, and MCP connections; premium ecommerce integrations need Pro or Enterprise.
Pricing & terms
What a contact costs you Billing counts deduplicated people. The same buyer on Stripe, your shop, and your list is one contact; detected spam counts as zero. Accounts created since November 3, 2025 are billed for all contacts, unsubscribed and bounced included. Duplicates are not double-billed.
Price protection Founding price kept for as long as your subscription remains active. No published price lock. ActiveCampaign's own help center documents plan restructures in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Trial and guarantee No free plan or trial. A 30-day money-back guarantee instead: pay from day one, walk away whole if it is not for you. No free plan. 14-day trial capped at 100 email sends, plus a published 30-day money-back guarantee.

Displayed revenue vs measured revenue

ActiveCampaign reports revenue by attribution: an email gets credit when someone opens or clicks and then buys in your connected store within 7 days. Canceled, refunded, returned, and failed orders are left out of the number entirely. That is the display approach, and every marketing platform uses some version of it.

KeyMetriq measures instead: revenue comes from your real sales data with refunds already counted, and the finance suite reconciles it against your bank statements. When the screen says $6,300, that is what actually arrived. Dashboards display. KeyMetriq reconciles.

And because ActiveCampaign is on KeyMetriq's integrations wall, the safe path is boring: connect it, watch the two numbers disagree for a month, then decide which one you trust.

Pricing, side by side

KeyMetriq founding beta

Starter (2,500 contacts) $29/mo $59/mo
Growth (15,000 contacts) $89/mo $179/mo
Scale (60,000 contacts) $219/mo $439/mo

Founding beta price, kept for as long as your subscription remains active. Full pricing and terms.

ActiveCampaign

Starter (1,000 contacts) $15/mo
Plus (2,500 contacts) $95/mo
Plus (15,000 contacts) $265/mo
Plus (60,000 contacts, sold as the 75,000 band) $879/mo

Annual-billing rates from ActiveCampaign's public calculator; monthly-billed rates run higher and are not publicly listed. Plus is the cheapest plan with unlimited automation actions and revenue reporting. There is no 60,000-contact band, so a 60,000-contact list buys the 75,000 band. Attribution and automation split testing need Pro ($465/mo at 15,000 contacts). From ActiveCampaign's public pricing pages, September 1, 2026.

An honest fit guide

Choose ActiveCampaign if

  • Deep automation is your business: branching workflows, sales sequences, and 950+ prebuilt recipes, refined over a decade.
  • You need a big integration catalog: 1,000+ apps, including premium CRM and enterprise ecommerce connections.
  • You are heading toward enterprise needs: SSO, custom objects, HIPAA support, and plans past 200,000 contacts.
  • You want WhatsApp marketing and retargeting ads run from the same platform, as paid add-ons.

Choose KeyMetriq if

  • You want revenue measured from real sales data with refunds counted, not attribution estimates.
  • You are tired of paying separately for team tasks, a support inbox, and (on Scale) a member community on top of your email tool.
  • The pricing math matters: $89/mo founding price at 15,000 contacts vs $265/mo for Plus, and KeyMetriq Growth includes 5 seats where ActiveCampaign's Starter and Plus include 1.
  • You want billing that counts deduplicated people; ActiveCampaign accounts created since November 3, 2025 are billed for every contact, unsubscribed and bounced included.

Questions people ask

Is KeyMetriq a good ActiveCampaign alternative?

For automation-first teams, not yet: ActiveCampaign's visual builder is the category benchmark and KeyMetriq's is still on the roadmap. For owner-operators whose actual pain is numbers that never match, yes: KeyMetriq does native email, forms, analytics measured from real sales data, tasks, support, and community in one subscription.

Can KeyMetriq and ActiveCampaign work together?

Yes. ActiveCampaign is on KeyMetriq's integrations wall, so you can connect it and get one reconciled view across it, your store, and your bank before you move anything.

Can I migrate my list from ActiveCampaign?

Yes. ActiveCampaign connects as an integration and identity resolution merges duplicates into one profile per person on the way in. On the Scale tier, concierge onboarding means our team guides your imports with you.

What does ActiveCampaign have that KeyMetriq does not?

Today: the visual automation builder and automated sequences (both on KeyMetriq's roadmap), a landing page builder, email split testing, SMS broadcasts, WhatsApp, and a far larger integration catalog. The table above keeps the full score.

What does KeyMetriq have that ActiveCampaign does not?

Bank reconciliation and receipt matching (Growth), attention maps and video watch tracking (Growth), a team task suite, a member portal with cohorts (Scale), a support inbox (ActiveCampaign withdrew its Conversations inbox from new sale in January 2023), and billing that counts deduplicated people.

One place, numbers you can trust.
